We live in a world where more and more people are wondering, “Why Church?” In a post-Christian society many people don’t think there is any use for God and his Church anymore. “We don’t need the Church for truth. We don’t need the Church for morality. We don’t need the Church for comfort and happiness,” they say, “because we can find all of those things elsewhere in our own way.” As you consider the world around you...how are people doing at achieving their post-Christian goals? Are people finding a truth that satisfies, are they more moral, truly happier? Or does it seem like there is more confusion...more hate...more fear...more despair than ever before?

In the 1st century Jesus Christ called his followers...the Church...a “city on a hill” and “the light of the world.” In the 21st century the world more than ever needs Jesus’ followers to be just that...a beacon of hope, a place to belong, a light in the darkness. All around us family and friends, coworkers and neighbors are desperately searching for a refuge in the wilderness...an anchor in the storm...a true purpose. It’s time to show them the place to find all of that is the Church. We do that by being the Church…the Church that Jesus has called us to be in him. Church is a fortress. Church is a family. Church provides us with a function. It’s time to show the world why the Church is still Christ’s body and God’s way of carrying out his saving purposes in the world.
